The Harvest Food Drive is upon us. It is a time where students are encouraged to donate canned food, money, or jackets. Rockhurst will be donating to the Bishop Sullivan/ St. James place, the Seton Center, Saint Francis Xavier Church, and Shalom Catholic Worker House. Each one of these organizations is committed to service to the poor and are inspired by Catholic faith. Members of SGA are pushing really hard for donations. SGA President William Tampke has big expectations this week. “I want these Barry Commons filled with cans and coats,” he said.
The week kicked off with a prayer service previewing the Harvest Food Drive. The service highlighted the importance of giving back to the community. “I think sometimes we forget how lucky we are, this is good opportunity to give back and show gratitude,” junior Jackson Pickett said.
Last year over $12,000 were raised, this year we will try to top that. The SGA will be making sure that they don’t let the Rockhurst community forget to give back this week. Every student’s inbox, and every afternoon and morning announcements SGA will be encouraging students to give back.
