Winter Sports Update



Over winter break, the Hawklet basketball team continued their season going 2-2 with wins against Smithville and Lincoln Prep and losses to Oak Park and Blue Valley. This brings the Hawklets’ record to 7-6 on the season. Recently, the basketball team traveled to Highland High School in Highland, Illinois, where the Hawklets took care of business, winning 80-34. After suffering a close loss to a strong Lee’s Summit West team, the Hawklets look to get back on  track in the Liberty Tournament. The Hawklets face off against Lee’s Summit North on January 19 at Liberty High School @ 8:30.


The wrestling team continued their season during winter break, competing against Lee’s Summit High School. Rockhurst ended up losing the match 31-48. Although they were scheduled to play in the Lee’s Summit tournament, it was cancelled due to inclement weather. Recently, the Hawklets competed against Lee’s Summit West, losing 26-43. The wrestling team looks to bounce back at the Winnetonka Tournament on January 20-21.


The Rockhurst Hockey team played a single game over winter break, losing to Wichita 2-3. This brings their record to 5-7 on the season, and they currently stand at 5th place in their league. Last weekend, the Hockey Hawklets traveled to Chicago, playing three games against some of the best teams in the country. The hockey team dropped all three games in Chicago, but look to bounce back in league play on January 21 competing against NW Arkansas Ice Hogs at the Independence Main Bowl @ 12:10.
