There are plenty of opportunities for entertainment this weekend, September 19-21, here in Kansas City. Artistic, athletic and even spiritual events are on the rise, and all of them are guaranteed to provide for an enjoyable time.
The 83rd Annual Plaza Art Fair is taking place this weekend at the Country Club Plaza and is available for attendance every day this weekend. On Friday it is open from 5 PM to 10 PM, on Saturday from 10 AM to 10 PM, and on Sunday from 11 AM to 5 PM.
The Plaza Art Fair is notorious for being one of the most popular yearly events in Kansas City. Many local artists set up stands all around the Plaza Shopping District to sell and display their artistic creations.
There is live music every year by local bands, and three stages are set up for the bands to perform around the Plaza. Restaurants set up booths throughout the fair, so there’ll also be great food to enjoy along with the art and music.
Tonight there will be an open mic night held at the Neslon Atkins Museum of Art exclusively for teenagers. Students can arrive at Lens 2 of the Bloch Building beginning at 7 PM, and are welcome to perform music or poetry readings.
The Royals are playing against the Detroit Tigers every day this weekend at Kauffman Stadium.With the Royals just a half-game behind Detroit for the AL Central lead, these figure to be some of the most exciting games of the year. The start-times for this weekend are 7:10 PM on Friday, 12:05 PM on Saturday and 1:10 PM on Sunday.
If you’re looking for other sports to watch, the Rockhurst High School varsity fall teams have games this weekend too. On Friday at 7 PM, the Varsity Football Team will be playing against Blue Springs South High School, on their field.
On Saturday, Rockhurst’s Varsity Soccer Team will be playing at the Blue Valley District Stadium. The Varsity Cross Country Invitational will begin at 8 AM at Lake Jacomo, and the Varsity Swimming Team’s Invitational will be held at De Smit Jesuit High School beginning at 5:55 PM.
Also on Saturday is the Freshman Mixer, held from 7 PM to 10 PM in the Rockhurst Gymnasium.
The Mother / Son Mass will be taking place on Sunday at 10 AM in the Rose Theater. Immediately following it, there will be a free brunch served in the Dining Commons.
