In their second straight game against a team from Arkansas, the Rockhurst varsity football team came out on top 46-22.
The Hawklets’ senior quarterback TJ Green had a standout performance with 357 passing yards and four touchdowns through the air. He also had 38 rushing yards and one touchdown on the ground. Green’s play in the pocket was described as “unbelievable” by junior teammate Brendan McConnell.
After what was a close first quarter (each team scoring one touchdown), Rockhurst pulled away in the second, scoring four of their six total touchdowns. Rockhurst dominated possession throughout the quarter, and Har-Ber scored just once, on a long touchdown pass.
Following the Hawklets’ dominant second quarter, Har-Ber showed little life, not scoring again until the fourth quarter on a 50 yard run by junior halfback Luke Hannon. Still, Hannon’s run only brought Har-Ber a bit over halfway towards Rockhurst’s commanding lead.
The Hawklets’ defensive secondary was dominant. Har-Ber’s junior quarterback Brandon Still completed just four passes in the game and also threw an interception.
Despite missing two PATs, junior kicker Jackson Terry made both 25 and 43 yard field goals, in what was a notable performance.
Thanks to an impressive game by TJ Green and a solid defensive performance, Rockhurst managed an assertive victory over the Har-Ber Wildcats. The Hawklets look forward to next Friday’s matchup against Blue Springs South, which will only be their second distr
