Varsity Soccer: Week three recap

Varsity soccer went 1-1 this week and suffered its first loss to Shawnee Mission West, puting the Hawklets at 5-1 on the season.

The Hawklets sustained ball control for most of the game. Junior Will Boatman scored the Hawklet’s only goal in the first half. Shawnee Mission West answered back with two goals, both by free kicks. With under 40 seconds left, a shot from junior Cole Mclagan bounced off the goalpost to allow Shawnee Mission West the win.

Quickly recovering from the loss, Rockhurst beat Liberty on Wednesday at home 2, nil. The Hawklets controlled the ball in the first half. In the 10th minute, senior Jordan Evans had a staggering header to give Rockhurst the lead.

Rockhurst continued to dominate during the first half. Junior Keaton Schieffer scored the second goal in the 19th minute.

The Hawklets went into halftime with a 2, nil lead.

With the start of the second half, the Hawklets had to battle the midfield but slowly gained ball control. Rockhurst was able to hold Liberty and win the game 2, nil.

The Hawklets look pretty determined for another state championship. Varsity has one home game this weekend, followed by 11 away games until they return home on October 7th.
